Portland Open Studios is an annual juried art studios tour in Portland, Oregon, USA. It offers a unique opportunity to watch artists at work in their own spaces, as they paint, sculpt, draw, print, throw, carve, sew, and more. Ask about their tools and techniques. Learn more about art from the artists themselves.
Indulge your curiosity with this app which serves as your tour guide for 2 adults on all 4 days (supervised children through high school are free).
The app includes information for all 104 artists with images of their art. The 2015 tour is on October 10, 11 and 17, 18 (always the 2nd and 3rd weekends of October). All 104 artists studios are open from 10am to 5pm, and artists will be on hand to demonstrate their art and answer questions during those hours.
In addition to artists information & images of their work, the app has maps & driving directions which make this self-directed tour fun and easy to plan. If you are interested in specific mediums, use the search function to seek out any of the mediums used by our artists, including: acrylic, assemblage, ceramic, collage, digital print, encaustic, fiber & fabric, glass, gold leaf, jewelry, metal, mixed media 2D, mixed media 3D, oil, pastel, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood.
Plan your tour by selecting your favorite artists and then visit their studios around the Portland metro area Saturday and Sunday, October 10, 11 and 17, 18 from 10am to 5pm.
As you visit the artists and their studios, use your app to help you remember the artists and their work with convenient note-taking function. Then keep the artists contact information for future reference as holidays, anniversaries or birthdays approach. A list of wheelchair-accessible studios is also available.
Now in its 17th year, Portland Open Studios was honored in 2009 by the City of Portland with a proclamation that declared the 2nd and 3rd weekends of October Portland Open Studios weekends. We hope to see you in October, 2015!
